[Bonus tip #1]: Warning about strawberries
by Nita Riggs Samuels, Health & Wellness Writer | Updated November 8th, 2023
A warning about strawberries...
WARNING: ALWAYS eat ORGANIC strawberries, ALWAYS! Do not EVER buy them as conventional non-organic…
It’s waay too dangerous–seriously, this is one fruit you should absolutely, always buy organic. So why the fire alarm when it comes to avoiding non-organic, conventional strawberries?
WARNING: Non-organic strawberries are too dangerous.
They're #1 on the Environmental Working Group's "Dirty Dozen" list for 2023.
"Dirty Dozen's" a list of the most contaminated fruits and vegetables
loaded with numerous pesticides.
Please always buy your strawberries organic, or don't buy them at all!
Strawberries have once again topped the Environmental Working Group’s annual “Dirty Dozen” list for 2023. Each year this list highlights the most contaminated non-organic produce that you should always stay away from.
Q: Is eating non-organic strawberries really so dangerous? Is this really something to worry about?
A: You bet it is! According to the EWP, the USDA tests found that conventional/non-organic strawberries contain dozens of pesticides and chemicals that are “linked to cancer, reproductive & developmental damage, hormone disruption and neurological problems.”
It was also found that “strawberry samples contained residues of 81 different pesticides in various combinations.”
YIKES! Well, that’s all I needed to know–which is why I’d say it’s wise to keep your eyes peeled when shopping for strawberries.
And unless they are true organic, my advice is this: DON’T touch them. Ingesting pesticides–no thanks, I’ll pass on that one.
Bonus tip #2: How this “f-word” fights cancer…
How this "f-word" fights cancer...
I’ve gotta say it: the “f-word” I mentioned is FISETIN. And this is one amazing phytonutrient superhero.
How? Fisetin is this REAL-DEAL cancer-killing trio, all in one. A trio?
YES—besides being this powerhouse antioxidant (which keeps free radicals from damaging our healthy cells), fisetin’s also a potent anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic nutrient!
No joke—it helps to ease down inflammation (what we so sooo NEED when fighting cancer) and yes, it blocks those dangerous cancer-causing carcinogens–AMEN to that!
What a wonderful triple threat to cancer! And guess what? There are just a few fruits and veggies that have it, BUT, beautiful strawberries BY FAR have the highest amount of fisetin (120 mcg per gram) which is plenty to cheer about!
